Frequently Asked Questions
Servicing and Maintenance
1. How often should I service my vehicle?
Most vehicles have a service countdown on the dashboard which will notify you when a service is required. Please do not ignore this warning as it could invalidate the warranty if a service is missed or delayed. Typically, this will be every 12 months or 10,000-12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
2. What does a standard service include?
For petrol and diesel vehicles, a standard service usually includes an oil and filter change, fluid level checks, tyre pressure checks, and a general inspection of your vehicle’s components. More comprehensive services may also include air filter replacement, spark plug replacement, and brake fluid changes.
3. Can I take my vehicle to any garage for servicing?
To maintain your manufacturer warranty, it’s important to have your vehicle serviced at an approved garage that uses genuine manufacturer parts. Please contact us for a list of approved service centres in your area.
Repairs and Tyre Booking
1. What should I do if my vehicle needs repairs?
If your vehicle requires repairs, please contact our maintenance team as soon as possible. We’ll arrange for your vehicle to be assessed and repaired at an approved garage, ensuring that the work is carried out to the manufacturer’s standards.
2. How do I book a tyre replacement or repair?
To book a tyre replacement or repair, simply call our maintenance team or use our online booking system. We’ll arrange for your vehicle to be booked into an approved tyre fitting centre at a time that suits you.
3. Are tyre replacements included in my lease agreement?
Tyre replacements due to normal wear and tear are typically included in your lease agreement. However, damage caused by misuse or negligence may not be covered.
Fast Fit Items
1. What are fast fit items?
Fast fit items are common vehicle components that can be quickly replaced without the need for a full service. Examples include wiper blades, light bulbs, batteries, and air filters.
2. Can I replace fast fit items myself?
While some fast fit items can be easily replaced by the vehicle owner, we recommend having the work carried out by an approved garage. This ensures that the correct parts are used and that the work is completed to the manufacturer’s standards.
3. How often should I replace fast fit items?
The frequency of fast fit item replacement varies depending on the component and your vehicle’s usage. If you feel an item is worn and needs replacing, simply pop into a local FastFit centre and ask them to check it for you or contact IFM’s maintenance team.
Electric Car and Van Drivers
1. How often do electric vehicles need servicing?
Electric vehicles generally require less frequent servicing than petrol or diesel vehicles. However, it’s still important to follow the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule, which typically includes an annual inspection and service.
2. What does a service for an electric vehicle include?
An electric vehicle service usually includes a thorough inspection of the battery, electrical systems, and other EV-specific components. It also includes checks on brakes, suspension, and tyres, as well as any software updates that may be required.
3. How do I arrange a repair or maintenance for my electric vehicle?
If your electric vehicle requires repairs or maintenance, please book it in online or contact our maintenance team. We’ll arrange for your vehicle to be assessed and repaired at an approved EV-specialist garage, ensuring that the work is carried out to the manufacturer’s standards.
